Born in 1965 in Rehovot, Israel.

Joseph specialized fields are shipping, multimodal transport, marine insurance and aviation law. His practice includes both commercial and litigation aspects of those fields.

He has wide experience litigating in all types of marine and shore based disputes involving personal injury, charterparty disputes, insurance coverage issues, collisions, salvage, general average and cargo disputes, for a variety of corporations, shipowners, time charterers, port agents, freight forwarders, ports, terminals, liability insurers, P&I clubs, cargo interests and their insurers, bunker suppliers, shipyards, etc.

Joseph appears regularly before all courts countrywide and has been involved in some landmark decisions. He participated in court litigation and arbitrations outside Israel in the United States, England, Greece and Italy and
has accepted instructions from overseas clients on many occasions.

Joseph’s expertise covers most aspects of commercial shipping, with particular emphasis on sale & purchase, newbuilding contracts, ship finance and the evolving coastal shipping trade in Israel.

Joseph was admitted to Israel’s Bar in 1995 after training with Tel-Aviv District Attorney (Civil) between 1993-1995. He practiced for seven years in one of Israel’s finest law firms, in which he headed the marine department, before setting off to better serve his clients in a new environment.

Before graduating from the University of East London (LL.B) in 1992 and Queen Mary College, University of London (LL.M.) in 1993, and following studies at The IDF Military Boarding School – The Hebrew Reali School of Haifa, Joseph served in Israel’s Defense Forces over a period of 6 years retiring as a Captain.

He is a member of the Israeli Bar and Israel Maritime Law Association. Joseph has lectured at Netanya Academic College on marine insurance (four academic years 2012 – 2017); at Bar Ilan University on carriage of goods matters and in the Israel Chamber of Shipping on marine insurance; in addition he has written on marine insurance and contributed to a number of legal working groups.
